A first post, and a short note on what this blog is for.

Thalorna is an original fantasy setting — a richly detailed world of lands, cultures, organizations, and conflicts, designed for tabletop roleplaying. Everything on this site is released under Creative Commons (CC-BY-SA), so you’re free to use it, expand on it, adapt it into your own products, or contribute back to it, so long as you give attribution. See the license for full details.

About a year ago, I decided to bring together a number of projects I’ve been working on under a common umbrella called Heroic Lands. This includes my work on Foundry VTT — game systems, modules, adventures, mini-campaigns, and setting materials. One of the main things I was building at the time was a new Foundry VTT system compatible with Kelestia Productions’ HârnMaster and the World of Kethira (HMK). I call that system Song of Heroic Lands (SoHL).

My original thought was to integrate everything into Kethira, but over time I realized my own conception of many of these lands and organizations had drifted from the official canon. On top of that, the longstanding confusion around who actually owns the rights to HârnWorld — two separate companies claim ownership — meant that anything I produced could be considered a copyright violation by one or the other. Given how much work I was putting into this, that wasn’t a risk I was willing to take.

So I decided to expand my materials into my own setting — one that is compatible with, but distinct from, HârnWorld. That’s how Thalorna was born.

On this site you’ll find setting materials for Thalorna, including geography, cultures, and history, along with adventures, characters, creatures, and their stats. Whether you’re here to run a campaign, borrow ideas for your own world, or just explore, I hope you find it useful.
